Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum

I had previously visited the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum when my friend was living in Tucson a couple years ago in March. At that time a lot of the plants were blooming, this time around we were a couple weeks too early. We drove through Saguaro National Park en route to the museum. It’s quite the sight to see so many saguaros for almost as far as the eye can see.

We were greeted by an adorable owl before we got to the gates.

So cute! Totally worth the drive to Tucson #owl #desert #tucson #arizona #roadtrip

Most of the museum is outdoors, showcasing desert flora and fauna. There are also indoor displays of natural history and some animal exhibits.

The museum operates raptor free flights (twice a day in the winter and once a day in the summer)

The museum also has a hummingbird aviary, with several different species. The grey hummingbird seemed to be used to people, and would stay still for long periods of time while people could get quite close to it.
